Files and meetings

Tools for listing a company's files and meetings, reading transcripts and document text, and reviewing PDF pages as images.

These tools read the files and meeting records attached to a company. All of them are read-only, and none of them return storage links.

Your assistant normally gets the exact read calls from get_company_research_context, so you rarely need these tools by name.

list_company_artifacts

Read · Cost 4

Lists a company's files, meeting transcripts, meeting attachments, and meetings without a transcript. Each item says whether it can be read and, if not, why. This is the same inventory that get_company_research_context returns, without the company record.

InputTypeRequiredDescription
companyIdUUIDYesThe company whose files and meetings to list.
limitinteger, 1 to 50NoItems per page. Defaults to 20.
cursorintegerNoPage position. Set by nextRequest.

Notes

  • Follow nextRequest until coverage.complete is true. If the inventory changes between pages, the result is marked STALE and restarts.

Example: What files and meeting recordings do we have for Acme?

read_meeting_transcript

Read · Cost 5

Reads one page of a meeting transcript linked to a company. Long transcripts span several pages; the result includes nextRequest for the next one.

InputTypeRequiredDescription
companyIdUUIDYesThe company the meeting belongs to.
transcriptIdUUIDYesThe transcript to read.
maxCharactersinteger, 1,000 to 20,000NoCharacters per page. Defaults to 12,000.
cursorintegerNoPage position. Set by nextRequest.

Notes

  • The first page is not the whole transcript. Follow nextRequest until coverage.complete is true.

Example: Read the latest meeting transcript for Acme and list what the founders committed to.

read_company_file

Read · Cost 10

Reads one page of text extracted from a company file, such as a pitch deck PDF or a text document. For PDFs, page markers are kept so findings can be cited by page.

InputTypeRequiredDescription
companyIdUUIDYesThe company the file belongs to.
fileIdUUIDYesThe file to read.
maxCharactersinteger, 1,000 to 20,000NoCharacters per page. Defaults to 12,000.
cursorintegerNoPage position. Set by nextRequest.

Notes

  • Supports PDF and text-based files (plain text, JSON, XML) up to 50 MB stored in DealTraq. Files stored with an external provider, unsupported formats, oversized files, and deleted files return an explicit reason instead of text.
  • Follow nextRequest until coverage.complete is true.
  • For PDFs, the result also includes visualReviewRequest, because text extraction can miss charts, diagrams, and image-only slides. For files up to 25 MB it includes rawReadRequest as an optional original-file read.

Example: Summarize Acme's pitch deck and pull out every revenue figure it mentions.

read_company_file_page

Read · Cost 10

Renders one page of a company PDF as an image so your assistant can see charts, diagrams, layout, and slides that contain no text. The result includes nextRequest for the following page.

InputTypeRequiredDescription
companyIdUUIDYesThe company the file belongs to.
fileIdUUIDYesThe PDF to render.
pageNumberinteger, 1 or moreNoThe page to render. Defaults to 1.

Notes

  • To review a whole deck, follow nextRequest through the last page.
  • Missing, oversized, and externally stored files return an explicit reason instead of an image.

Example: Look at the charts in Acme's deck and check whether the growth curve matches the numbers in the text.

read_company_file_raw

Read · Cost 15

Returns the original file as an embedded resource, for AI clients that accept file attachments in tool results. This gives the highest fidelity, but it is optional: if your client cannot accept it, your assistant falls back to read_company_file and read_company_file_page.

InputTypeRequiredDescription
companyIdUUIDYesThe company the file belongs to.
fileIdUUIDYesThe file to return.

Notes

  • Only files up to 25 MB stored in DealTraq can be returned this way.
  • For formats the text reader does not support, such as spreadsheets or Word documents, this is the only way to read the file.
  • Size limits for embedded files vary by AI client.

Example: Open the original Acme financial model so you can read the spreadsheet directly.
