DealTraq Docs

Introduction

Connect your AI assistant to your authorized DealTraq pipeline with the DealTraq MCP server.

DealTraq MCP Server

DealTraq membership required

The MCP server works with your existing DealTraq account. During OAuth you choose an organization, and every tool call is re-authorized against your current membership.

Ask Claude, ChatGPT, or another compatible AI assistant about your pipeline, companies, meetings, and investment evidence without leaving your chat. Your assistant can also act in DealTraq for you: create companies, add files, vote in Inbox triage, and update companies. Ask for a proposal when you want a change reviewed in DealTraq before it is applied.

How it works

The DealTraq MCP Server implements the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external systems. Your AI client connects to DealTraq over Streamable HTTP and uses Clerk OAuth to select your authorized organization.

Tools receive that verified identity from the access token—not from model arguments. Results are bounded, authorization is checked again on every request, and invocation audits exclude bearer tokens and raw prompt content.

What you can do

Pipeline intelligence

Understand pipeline locations, stages, ordering, and the exact cohort behind a metric. You can enumerate every company in a stage with explicit continuation requests instead of relying on a partial chat result.

Company research

Search companies by name or description, inspect a company's current DealTraq record, and assemble its research context from pipeline state and available artifacts.

Meetings and files

Review company files, meeting transcripts, and supported PDF pages. Large results are bounded and include the next request needed to continue safely.

Inbox triage

Work through the companies waiting in your Inbox, read each one's triage brief against your organization's thesis, and record your vote. A vote must cite a research report, so your reasoning stays attached to the decision.

Company changes

Your assistant can change DealTraq data directly. Depending on the request, it can create a company, add a file, move a company between stages, or merge, archive, and delete records. These changes apply immediately, as if you made them in the app, and are recorded under your name in your selected organization.

Ask for a proposal when you want a review step

If you want to check a change before it applies, ask your assistant to propose it. DealTraq then creates a proposal and returns a link where you approve or reject it in the app.

Documents and research

Generate memos and other documents from your organization's templates so they match your house style, and read or contribute to Research Scout discovery programs.

Example prompts

Once connected, try asking your AI assistant:

  • Show me every company currently in Diligence and summarize the evidence gaps.
  • How many companies are in the active pipeline, and what definition does DealTraq use?
  • Find Acme, then summarize its stage, owners, latest meetings, and available files.
  • Read the latest meeting transcript for Acme and list the unresolved diligence questions.
  • Review Acme's investment deck and compare its claims with the latest meeting evidence.
  • Walk me through today's Inbox and draft a vote for each company against our thesis.
  • Propose moving Acme to Due Diligence, but do not apply the change directly.
  • Check whether the Acme stage-change proposal is still pending or has been approved.

Security and data handling

  • OAuth selects the user and organization; tool arguments cannot override them.
  • Reads are bounded and re-authorized for every request.
  • Tokens, credentials, and raw prompt content are excluded from invocation audit logs.
  • Write tools act as you, in the organization you chose during sign-in. Tools that change data are marked as such, so your AI client can ask you to confirm before running them.
  • Proposals stay pending until someone approves them in DealTraq.
  • Revoked grants, removed memberships, and lapsed billing fail on the next request.
  • Requests are rate limited for each member and AI client.
